For those looking to extend the experience, continue on to Saly for a more relaxed, resort-style stay. This extension is all about unwinding by the beach, enjoying the amenities of a 5-star resort, and closing out the journey with a perfect balance of leisure and reflection.

Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed at the airport and escorted to your private transfer, which will take you directly to the hotel. From the moment you land, everything is handled for you, ensuring a smooth and comfortable start to your journey.

In Dakar, we will stay at Noom Hotel Dakar Sea Plaza for 4 nights. This oceanfront property features modern design and stunning Atlantic views. Located near the vibrant cultural center, enjoy an infinity pool, a wellness center, and dining that blends local flavors with international cuisine.

In the evening, we’ll gather for a special Welcome Dinner to kick off our journey together, share introductions, and savor Senegal’s vibrant culinary scene. Guests are invited to wear White with Red accents for our theme color.

We will begin the day with a 9:30 AM pickup from the hotel for a guided tour of Dakar. We will visit iconic landmarks like Independence Square, the Presidential Palace, Dakar Cathedral, and the Museum of Black Civilizations. Additionally, we’ll explore Sandaga Craft Market, the Medina neighborhood, the Corniche, the Grand Mosque, and the African Renaissance Monument.

The Théodore Monod African Art Museum is a treasure trove of African art and artifacts, situated in the lively heart of Dakar. Named after the esteemed explorer and ethnologist, it features both traditional and contemporary works.

The Village des Arts de Dakar is a lively hub for local artists, offering a rich display of diverse art forms from painting to sculpture. Visitors can engage directly with artists, participate in workshops, and enjoy various cultural events.

Experience the vibrant flavors of Senegal at Club de pêche, where freshly caught seafood meets a scenic waterfront location.

The Henriette-Bathily Women's Museum honors the vital roles of women throughout African history and the diaspora. With diverse exhibits showcasing their achievements, the museum fosters education and empowerment. Named after a notable women's rights advocate, it stands in Dakar's lively cultural hub.

Following our visit to Gorée Island, the experience transitions into something deeply personal. After walking through a place that represents loss of identity and separation, this moment is about reclaiming that connection.

Participants will take part in a traditional naming ceremony, guided by local elders and rooted in cultural practice. Each name carries meaning, reflecting traits, history, and a deeper connection to African heritage.

Visit the famous Pink Lake, known for its unique color and historic role as the finish line of the Dakar Rally. Then gear up for an ATV adventure, riding across sand dunes and along the shoreline to a local fisherman village. This experience blends adrenaline with culture, offering a raw and unforgettable look at life beyond the city.

Ring in the New Year with a curated dinner and party experience in Dakar. Expect an elevated evening with great food, music, and a vibrant atmosphere as we celebrate together and welcome the year ahead.

Transfer to Les Paletuviers Boutique Hotel, a beautiful beachfront resort along the stunning central coast, with a 4 hour and 20 min drive. Enjoy scenic views of palm-lined shores and the relaxing sound of the waves as you settle into your new surroundings.

Step into Fathala Wildlife Reserve for a rare, controlled encounter with West African lions.

You will walk side by side with the lions, often within just a few feet, accompanied by trained guides who manage the animals’ movements and ensure safety at all times. Along the way, you’ll learn about lion behavior, conservation efforts, and the role reserves like Fathala play in protecting the species.

Visit Kunta Kinteh Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site set along the Gambia River and a powerful reminder of the transatlantic slave trade. Once a strategic holding point, the island still holds remnants of its past, offering a sobering and educational experience through guided exploration.

As you walk the grounds, you’ll gain insight into the history, the people who passed through here, and the lasting impact of this era. After leaving Senegal, we complete passport control and board a ferry to cross into The Gambia. Once across, we travel through local towns to the coast and arrive at the African Princess Beach Hotel, where the pace turns relaxed on the beachfront.

Bijilo Forest Park

popularly known as the Monkey Park, is one of the most accessible nature reserves in The Gambia, located right next to the popular tourist area of Kololi. This 51-hectare fenced woodland offers a peaceful escape with well-maintained trails that wind through closed canopy forest, coastal scrubland, and sand dunes. It is most famous for its high concentration of monkeys that have become habituated to human visitors

Today marks the conclusion of the main trip. The group will travel together back into Senegal.

Guests continuing on the extension will transfer to Saly and check into the resort to begin the next phase of the experience. Those returning home will be transported to Dakar’s international airport for departure.

Depart The Gambia and travel back into Senegal, crossing the border and continuing along the coastal route. The full journey to Saly typically takes 4 to 6 hours, depending on border wait times and traffic, before arriving at your beachfront destination.

Upon arrival in Saly, you will check into the Mövenpick Resort Lamantin Saly and have the rest of the day at leisure to enjoy the property. Relax by the lagoon-style pool, unwind on the private beach, or take advantage of the spa, fitness center, and on-site restaurants. DEPARTURE TRANSFERS

For guests not continuing on the extension, transportation will be arranged to Dakar’s international airport for your return flight home. The drive from Saly to the airport typically takes 35 mins, depending on traffic, ensuring a smooth and comfortable departure.
